Leeds United are seemingly ready to commit to a financial outlay this month, but they’re not actually willing to part with any significant sum of money until the summer.

Indeed, the Whites have offered up big figures such as £20m for Che Adams, but they aren’t willing to actually pay up until the summer.

United have also tried a similar approach in signing Jarrod Bowen, but it seems as though Hull won’t go for that type of deal.

What’s been said then?

As is tradition, Leeds fans have been bombarding Phil Hay with dozens of questions around the Whites’ January transfer plans.

Understandably, questions about Bowen came up after The Sun’s recent report stating that Leeds have prepared a bid for the winger.

Unfortunately, the journalist poured cold water on Leeds’ chances of signing the 22-year-old as he claimed Hull aren’t happy with the terms being offered up by the Yorkshire club.

“They like Bowen but financially it doesn’t sound like Hull are into the sort of deal Leeds could finance (loan with obligation),” he tweeted.

Understandable

Can you really blame Hull for not wanting to agree to this type of deal?

Bowen is by far the Tigers’ star man as he won the club’s Player of the Year award last term, and he’s topping their scoring charts by some way this season.

City are only seven points off the playoffs, and if they sold Bowen this month without having the money to get a replacement in immediately they’d be pretty much writing off the rest of the campaign.

£15m may be a good fee for a man who has less than a year left on his contract, but Hull have an option to extend it for a further year, so there’s no point in selling him without being able to get a replacement through the door straight away.

In other news, one thing will be vital to Leeds earning promotion.
