Former Spanish football federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales has been detained after landing in Madrid amid a corruption investigation.

A warrant for Rubiales' arrest was issued in late March following his property being raided by authorities. At the time, however, he was in the Dominican Republic and could not be arrested by with reporting that he was taken away by the Guardia Civil in a black van.

The corruption investigation relates to the deal that saw the Supercopa de Espana expanded into a four-team competition that takes place in Saudi Arabia. Rubiales is suspected of receiving illegal commissions when negotiating the transformation.
