Former Football League Show presenter Manish Bhasin doesn't appear set to replace Gary Lineker on Match of the Day, despite fan demand.

Bhasin is a left-field suggestion for the role on Match of the Day following his stint on The Football League Show, a classic highlights show which aired on the BBC from 2009 to 2015. Bhasin hosted the show, with Football League stalwart Steve Claridge providing the analysis, as the pair covered all of the action from the second, third and fourth tiers of English football.

The Football League Show immediately followed Match of the Day on Saturdays, and one fan joked to Bhasin that now is the time for his promotion to the flagship show. "Your time has finally come," the fan joked on X, tagging the presenter.

Sadly for a wave of Football League Show enthusiasts, Bhasin doesn't seem to be in the frame for the role. "I wish! Thanks for the kind comments though," he replied.
