The 25-year-old was taken off the field during Scotland's 0-0 draw against Serbia in the Euro 2025 qualifiers last week and City have confirmed that she had suffered an ACL tear. She has undergone successful surgery on her knee and will be unavailable for at least the rest of the season.

The injury to the Scottish keeper will be a troubling one for Gareth Taylor with both Khiara Keating and Ellie Roebuck both suffering recent injuries. Keating pulled out of the Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses squad earlier this week, while Roebuck will be unavailable for some time after she revealed that she had suffered a stroke in the left occipital lobe earlier this year.

Considering Keating and Roebuck's problems, Maclver, who has only made two appearances this season, would have been in with a chance of getting more playing time in the upcoming weeks. As they look to win just their second Women's Super League title in history, City will hope Keating's injury is only a minor one or else they will have to turn to a youth goalkeeper.

WHAT NEXT FOR MACIVER AND MAN CITY?

MacIver will begin her rehabilitation program under the supervision of City's medical team and will also have to look on from the stands when they begin their title run in on April 21 against West Ham.
